In Middlesex Community College’s Technical Writing program – as part of the Community Education and Training (CET) department – Lois Kilberg updated her skills and found it easier to get hired for a new position after a few years out of the program. “As a direct result of the new skills and writing samples that I gained from the program, I now have a fully remote technical writing job that perfectly fits my situation and needs,” she said.
For Meera Nagajian, the program at Middlesex helped her start a new career. “The program gave the students a detailed semester of the do’s and don’ts of writing technical content and another semester with an overview of the several tools and technologies one needs as a technical writer in today’s world,” she said.
As part of CET’s program – students can earn a certificate to enhance or jumpstart their careers. Job seekers interested in writing across different industries can gain the knowledge and skills they need to enter the workforce now.

“Technical Writers are essential to the workforce and employers are actively hiring people for these positions,” said Sheila Morin, MCC’s Director of Community Education and Training. “In addition to providing our students with relevant and practical experience in the field, our curriculum blends standards and knowledge of how to write clearly and concisely for an audience, while building a range of tools for professional writers to use.”
Developed in cooperation with an advisory board, MCC’s certificate is taught by industry leaders. From this high-quality education at an affordable cost, students can expect to enter industries including Information Technology, software, education, journalism and business among others. The course will also provide students with important writing samples to show to employers.
