Lowell Chamber Orchestra to Close Out MCC’s Fall “World of Music”

The Lowell Chamber Orchestra will close out MCC's "A World of Music" with "Island of Peoples" at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 17

The Lowell Chamber Orchestra (LCO) will close out Middlesex Community College’s Fall 2022 “A World of Music” concert series. “Island of Peoples” will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 17 at MCC’s Richard and Nancy Donahue and Family Academic Arts Center in Lowell.

The LCO will perform a dramatic multimedia oratorio, composed in 2019 by Gabriele Vanoni. “Island of Peoples” is based on stories of immigrants coming to the United States. The performance draws inspiration and material from the stories of the Ellis Island Oral Histories.

“Interviews include stories of struggle, pain and sadness, but also joy, love, friendship and faith,” said Orlando Cela, MCC Music Faculty Member. “MCC and the Lowell Chamber Orchestra are excited to share these important messages in new and exciting ways through music.”
