Markey Takes Bedford in Special Election

The Malden Democrat beat Gabriel Gomez by more than 400 votes in Bedford.

Massachusetts’ new senator Edward Markey bested Republican foe Gabriel Gomez in Bedford in the special U.S. Senate election on Tuesday.

Markey, a Congressman since 1977, received 1,843 votes compared to 1,383 votes for Gomez and 11 votes for third-party candidate Richard Heos of the Twelve Visions Party.
