MCC Available Throughout Summer to Get Students Ready for Fall

MCC is helping students prepare for the Fall 2023 semester, starting on Tuesday, September 5

This summer, Middlesex Community College is helping students prepare for the Fall 2023 semester, starting on Tuesday, September 5. Staff across the college are offering on-campus and online assistance for everything from registering for classes to getting help with financial aid.

“We want new and returning students to know we’re here and available to assist them this summer, in whatever ways works for them,” said Scott O’Neil, MCC’s Dean of Enrollment Services. “Starting college can feel overwhelming with many steps to take throughout the process. Getting everything sorted now will mean less stress when the semester starts, allowing students to focus on their coursework and reaching their goals.”

Students who register ahead of the Fall semester can take full advantage of MCC’s Orientation Plus. This includes an online orientation and a First Year Experience (FYE) 1-credit course offered in August. In addition to earning a college credit and exploring a field of interest, students will get to know the college, campus and community during FYE.

Students also get to meet classmates, faculty and staff before their first official day. There are a number of FYE sessions designed to meet the needs of specific student populations, including students with a disability, LGBTQIA+ students, first generation students, and students of color.

For students interested in applying to MCC, the college’s Office of Admissions is hosting campus tours in Bedford and Lowell throughout the summer. Prospective students and their families can also watch a virtual tour to learn more about the college offers, including academic programs, student support services, and resources for success.

MCC’s advisors are also available to help students register for classes and get assistance with career and transfer planning. Students can make on-campus and online appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as take advantage of drop-in hours on Wednesdays and Fridays.

On Mondays through September, MCC will host FAFSA Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Bedford and Lowell campuses. Students can meet one-on-one with financial aid counselors, get their questions answered, and go through the application process.

MCC’s Fall 2023 semester starts on Tuesday, September 5. Students can choose to register for the traditional 15-week semester or two accelerated eight-week Mini-mesters. While Mini-mester I begins September 5, MCC’s Mini-mester II starts on Monday, October 30. For more information, visit www.middlesex.mass.edu/registration/ or call 1-800-818-3434.

“Everyone at MCC is dedicated to guiding our students to success from day one,” O’Neil said. “We’re excited to get students ready for the semester and see them this Fall!”
