MCC Faculty Recognized for Outstanding Online Courses

MA Colleges Online (MCO) recently presented 2017 COD (Courses of Distinction) Awards to Professors Sarah Quast & Jennifer Bauer

Massachusetts Colleges Online (MCO) recently recognized two Middlesex Community College faculty members for outstanding course designs that best exemplify online education’s potential to enhance teaching and learning.

Science Professor Sarah Quast (center, above) and Communications Professor Jennifer Bauer were presented 2017 COD (Courses of Distinction) Awards at MCO’s 12th annual Conference on eLearning. Quast was honored for her hybrid course, titled “General Chemistry for Engineering and Science.” And Bauer was recognized for her online course, “Film Video and Society.”

“Middlesex has been a leader in online education for 20 years now, and we are extremely proud of our faculty who design and teach courses online,” said Matthew Olson, Dean of Social Sciences, Interdisciplinary, Evening & Online Education. “Sally Quast and Jen Bauer are two outstanding professors who have incorporated innovative teaching and creative uses of instructional technology into their online courses.”

MCC offers 15 degree and certificate programs that can be completed entirely online. Another 10 degree programs can be completed 80 percent online through hybrid course offerings, which combine online and face-to-face instruction.
