MCC Hires New Nursing Lab and Simulation Coordinator
MCC is excited to announce Jessica Wine as the new Nursing Lab and Simulation Coordinator

Middlesex Community College is excited to announce Jessica Wine as the new Nursing Lab and Simulation Coordinator for the college’s Health Education and Laboratory Technology (H.E.A.L.T.H.) Building. In addition to being a nursing educator, she is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN). Wine is thrilled to bring her passion for preparing future nurses through hands-on learning and simulation to Middlesex.
“I recognize the importance of bridging classroom instruction with real-world patient care experiences,” Wine said. “My interest in higher education grew from a desire to support students as they develop the knowledge, critical thinking, and clinical judgement skills needed to provide safe, compassionate care. Nursing education has a profound impact on healthcare, and I am excited to contribute to the preparation of skilled nurses who will serve and strengthen our communities for years to come.”
In her role at Middlesex, Wine supports the development of realistic learning experiences that help students build confidence, strengthen clinical skills, enhance communication, and develop critical thinking. The simulation and skills labs allow the college to provide opportunities for students to practice in a safe and supportive environment before caring for real patients. Wine believes this contributes to workforce readiness and meets the healthcare needs of the local communities.

Serving 45 to 55 students each year, MCC’s labs feature manikins, high-fidelity simulators, Sim Pad Plus, hospital equipment for sim bays, complete nurses’ command stations, and nursing skills laboratory stations. Wine’s position is to support students through innovative laboratory and simulation experiences that connect theory to practice and prepare them for clinical success. She brings a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate nursing education and training, according to Susan Lavallee, MCC’s Director of Nurse Education.
"Jessica is highly experienced in simulation development, implementation, and evaluation, along with curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) preparation, and simulation/clinical instruction across different student populations,” Lavallee said. “As a nursing educator, Jessica believes in fostering a collaborative learning environment grounded in critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and reflective practice. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes integrating theory with practice through simulation, active learning, and mentorship – empowering students to grow into safe, competent, and compassionate practitioners who embrace lifelong learning.”

Wine received her master’s in nursing education from Walden University. After witnessing the value simulation brings to nursing education, she went on to earn her CHSE. She wanted to teach at a community college because of their important role in providing accessible, affordable and high-quality education.
As she enjoys teaching and working with people from varied experiences, backgrounds and goals, Wine was drawn to Middlesex for the college’s commitment to student success and community engagement. With MCC’s program ranked first among 49 entry-level RN programs for passing the NCLEX, she is excited to contribute to the student-centered environment.
“I am honored to join the MCC community,” she said. “I look forward to collaborating with faculty, staff and community partners to strengthen hands-on learning opportunities and help students gain confidence in their abilities as future healthcare professionals.”
