MCC to Host Professional Development Webinar for Alumni

MCC's free Alumni Association will host an alumni webinar with MCC graduate and adjunct faculty Jeffrey Davis, 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Middlesex Community College’s commitment to student success continues well after graduation. Celebrating 50 years starting in September, Middlesex is proud to honor the past and celebrate the future – which centers around the over 26,000 students MCC has welcomed over its storied history. The college’s free Alumni Association will host a free webinar for alumni with MCC graduate and adjunct faculty Jeffrey Davis – 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21.

“The MCC Alumni Association offers opportunities for MCC alums and former students to connect with one another, providing social and networking engagement for alums,” said Amy Lee, MCC’s Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations. “The Alumni Association also provides a way for alumni to give back to the college, fundraise for the MCC Foundation, and support student success at MCC.”

If you have ever taken a class at Middlesex, you are an alum! The college is proud of every student who has taken classes on campus in Bedford and Lowell, and online – including recent high-school graduates, first generation students, adult learners, veterans and more.

Now is the time for many – including MCC alums – to reflect on goals and career paths, according to Davis. He believes that taking advantage of opportunities like this webinar helps to connect with the community and continue life-long learning.

The webinar – “Preparing & Conducting Effective Online Meetings” – will cover topics on the “principles and practicals” to help managers and teams have more productive meetings, make good decisions, and develop workable plans to stay on track with goals.

Due to COVID-19, places of work are forced to learn how to adjust to a “new normal.” As circumstances remain unknown and often feel overwhelming, Davis will help employers and employees plan and execute goals more effectively.

“Much like what we experienced as students, MCC is a community with so many people who are willing – and who are capable – to offer help, guidance and support,” Davis said. “Many alums find their lives and careers in a state of 'impermanence' due to the global pandemic. This is an opportune time to reconnect with a community you know and trust – where you know you will find empathetic ears and helping hands.

“Together, we alums can lift each other up. We can encourage and support each other as we 'skill up' to take on the challenges of our current career and life.”

Davis graduated from MCC in 1981 with an associate degree in social work and is the Principal of Organization Renewal Associates, a consultancy he started in 2008. He began as an adjunct for MCC in 1994 and was recently selected to serve on the Alumni Association Board.

Space is limited to the first 50 alums. Visit https://www.middlesex.mass.edu/alumni/events.aspx for more information and to register for the webinar.
