MCC Kicks Off “World of Music” with Lowell Chamber Orchestra

MCC will kick off the Spring 2023 "A World of Music" concert series with a performance by the Lowell Chamber Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. on 2/18

Middlesex Community College will kick off the Spring 2023 “A World of Music” concert series with a performance by the Lowell Chamber Orchestra (LCO) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 18 at MCC’s Richard and Nancy Donahue Family Academic Arts Center in Lowell.

“Our Spring ‘World of Music’ concert series will feature a great variety of music, including orchestral music, chamber music from around the world, vocal works by J.S. Bach, Cambodian traditional music, and student performances,” said Carmen Rodríguez-Peralta, MCC’s Chair of Music. “We are delighted to be back to live performances on both campuses, and we are now able to return to the post-concert receptions where audience members can meet the performers.”

The LCO, with guest conductor Geneviève Leclair, will present a concert inspired by imaginary places and tales. Works by Charles Ives, Carl Nielsen, Georges Hüe, Igor Stravinsky, and the world premiere of Pasquale Tassone’s “Rhapsody for Flute and Strings” with Orlando Cela – MCC Professor of Music – as soloist, will be performed.
