MCC is a great place to start a biology or chemistry degree – classes start Sept. 4

Interested in a career in biology or chemistry? Middlesex Community College is a great place to start – and it’s not too late to register for fall.
Classes start Wednesday, Sept. 4, and financial aid is available for those who qualify. Visit: https://www.middlesex.mass.edu/registration or call 1-800-818-3434.
“MCC has consistently offered strong degree programs in Life Science (biology) and Physical Science (chemistry),” explained Kathleen Sweeney, Dean of STEM (science, technology, engineering & math). “However, for fall we have transformed these two programs to both strengthen the curriculum and make them easier to identify.”

MCC’s former Life Science degree program is now an Associate in Science in Biology. And the previous Physical Science degree is now an Associate in Science in Chemistry.
“These degree programs constitute the first two years of a bachelors’ degree program in biology or chemistry,” stressed Sweeney. “The changes to the programs allow for a deeper experience in the sciences prior to transfer.”

Both programs align to the STEM foundation for the statewide MassTransfer Program, which guarantees credit transfer to MA state universities and the University of Massachusetts.
Biology – Students enrolled in this AS degree program pursue interests in the biological sciences. The program is designed to provide a foundation to transfer for a bachelor's degree in biology and related life-science fields, and qualifies for MassTransfer.
Chemistry – This AS degree program is designed for students wishing to pursue interests in the physical sciences. It provides a foundation to transfer for a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and related physical-science fields, and qualifies for MassTransfer.
