MCC’s Accelerated Course Options Makes Getting an Education Easie
While MCC's accelerated Mini-mester II starts on Monday, March 28, the Summer semester begins on Tuesday, May 31

Middlesex Community College knows that time matters when it comes to getting an education. Accelerated and flexible options –including during MCC’s Spring Mini-mester II and Summer semester – help make it possible for students to go to school. While MCC’s accelerated Mini-mester II starts on Monday, March 28, the Summer semester begins on Tuesday, May 31.
Middlesex has seen a 127 percent increase in registration for Mini-mesters from Spring 2019 to this semester. Because MCC students are showing that they are interested in taking accelerated courses, the college is offering more of these types of classes in addition to maintaining the traditional 15-week format, according to Arlene Rodríguez, MCC’s interim Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
“The popularity of our Mini-mester offerings proves that students are looking to take courses over a shorter period of time,” Rodríguez, said. “In order to guide our students to success, we need to continue to provide options and support services that meets each student where they are. This Spring and Summer is the perfect time to start at MCC, earn transferable college credit, and get on track. For many students, a shorter schedule is a better fit for their busy and full lives.”

Students will benefit from taking a Mini-mester or Summer course whether they are looking to transfer to a four-year institution, jumpstart a new career, or update their knowledge and skills. Combined with the ability to choose from on-campus, online and hybrid course formats, Middlesex makes getting an education more equitable, affordable and easier on students.
MCC’s accelerated Mini-mester and Summer courses also help students complete their education faster, whether they are a high school or college student home on break or an adult learner returning to school. Each session offers students single classes to meet general education requirements or explore majors, degrees or certificates to transfer to a bachelor’s program or start a career, and noncredit courses for professional and personal development.
All Middlesex students also have access to the college’s on-campus, online and hybrid student support services and resources. Students benefit from tutoring across all subjects, access to resources at the Libraries, and meeting with advisors to discuss academic, career, transfer and financial advising.
Please note that Middlesex requires all students to be vaccinated in order to come to campus, as of January 2022. Students who are unvaccinated can still choose to take online classes and access online resources and student support services.
