MCC’s Accelerated Course Options Makes Getting an Education Easier

Between Spring Mini-mester II and the Summer 2023 semester, MCC offers five upcoming opportunities to start taking classes

At Middlesex Community College, accelerated and flexible options make it possible for students to fit education into their lives. Between Spring Mini-mester II and the Summer 2023 semester, students have five upcoming opportunities to start taking classes.

“Spring and summer are the perfect times for students to start at MCC, earn transferable college credit, and get on track to reach their goals,” said Bryan Wint, MCC’s Assistant Dean of Pathways & Academic Advising. “Taking classes during this time period can greatly assist timely degree completion, goal attainment, and ease future course scheduling. Combined with our award-winning student support services and resources, MCC tries to meet each student where they are on a timeframe that works best for them.”

In less time, courses in MCC’s Spring Mini-mester II and Summer 2023 semester offer the same content, academic standards and number of instructional hours as courses scheduled during the traditional semester. Mini-mesters are eight weeks, while the Summer semester will offer a three-week session, two five-week sessions, and one session that runs for eight weeks.

Students will benefit from taking a Mini-mester or Summer course whether they are looking to transfer to a four-year institution, jumpstart a new career, or update their knowledge and skills. Combined with the ability to choose from on-campus, online and hybrid course formats, Middlesex makes getting an education more equitable, affordable and easier on students.

Each session offers students single classes to meet general education requirements or explore majors, degrees or certificates to transfer to a bachelor’s program or start a career, and noncredit courses for professional and personal development.

“This spring and summer, MCC has the best options available for students,” Wint said. “Whether you are coming to start a degree, certificate or industry credential, or taking a few classes over the traditional break period, we’re here to meet your needs.”
