MCC’s Professional Development Courses Help Employees Advance
MCC's computer applications courses – such as Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel – help make completing tasks easier

Middlesex Community College’s professional development courses provide the knowledge and skills employees need to advance in their careers. Part of the college’s Community Education and Training (CET) division, computer applications courses – such as Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel – help make completing tasks easier and more efficient for employees.
“All of our courses are designed to update or teach skills that will make employees more proficient and comfortable in their jobs,” said Audrey Nahabedian, MCC’s Dean of Workforce Development & Innovation. “We work closely with community partners to ensure our programs are relevant to industry trends, fit the needs of employers, and make employees well-qualified for in-demand jobs throughout the workforce of the Commonwealth.”
In MCC’s Google Sheets course, students learn a range of strategies to go from a basic to advanced-level of understanding through hands-on practice. The next session will run online starting on Thursday, February 9. The college also recently partnered with UTEC, Inc. in Lowell to offer the course to employees.

“The course was super engaging, and the instructor did a fabulous job meeting every participant's needs, including making herself available before and after class,” said Nichelle Sadler, an employee at UTEC. “I learned that I have been doing things the long way and now know how to take advantage of many shortcuts. I am also more confident than ever in creating spreadsheets, although I am still a work in progress.”
Microsoft Excel is another computer application that many employees use in their jobs. MCC’s course runs through the basics of the program, while also introducing students to intermediate and advanced features. The course starts on Thursday, March 30 and will be offered in-person on the college’s Bedford campus.

Affordable and flexible, MCC’s courses are a low-risk, high-reward option for individuals hoping to expand their knowledge.
“I would highly recommend this course,” Sadler said.
