Middlesex Community College kicks off its 2013-14 International Film Series with a screening of the documentary “Ai WeiWei: Never Sorry” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in MCC’s Federal Building Assembly Room, 50 Kearney Square, on the Lowell campus. Free and open to the public, the program concludes with a post-screening discussion with Middlesex faculty at 8 p.m.
Ai Weiwei is China's most famous international artist, and its most outspoken domestic critic. “Ai WeiWei: Never Sorry” (http://aiweiweineversorry.com) is the inside story of a dissident for the digital age who inspires global audiences and blurs the boundaries of art and politics.
First-time director Alison Klayman gained unprecedented access to Ai while working as a journalist in China. Her detailed portrait provides a nuanced exploration of contemporary China and one of its most compelling public figures.
