Middlesex Community College’s 2013-14 International Film Series continues with a screening of the award-winning feature “Long Life, Happiness and Prosperity” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in MCC’s Federal Building Assembly Room, 50 Kearney Square, on the Lowell campus. Free and open to the public, the program concludes with a post-screening discussion with Middlesex faculty at 8 p.m.
Directed by Mina Shum and starring Sandra Oh (“Grey’s Anatomy”), “ Long Life, Happiness and Prosperity” (http://www.filmmovement.com/filmcatalog/index.asp?MerchandiseID=14) tells the story of Kin (Oh), a young single mother who is raising her 12-year-old daughter, Mindy (Valerie Tian). When Mindy sets her sights on finding her mother a new boyfriend by using ancient Chinese magic, the results are unexpected, hysterically funny and heart-warming.
