Middlesex Earns 10 Awards at Regional Marketing Conference

Middlesex Community College has been recognized for outstanding work by regional members of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), the premiere organization for two-year college communications professionals.

 

MCC’s Office of Marketing Communications was awarded nine Medallion Awards – two gold, three silver and four bronze -- during NCMPR’s recent District 1 Conference, held in Mystic, Conn.

“Winning an unprecedented number of awards is a wonderful recognition of a very busy year for our department,” said Jennifer Aradhya, Director of Marketing Communications. “Middlesex is proud of the innovative work we do in social media, marketing and design. To be recognized by regional college marketers is a tribute to the hard work and talent of our team.”

Marketing Communications earned Gold Medallion Awards in the categories of Social Media, and Fund Raising/Annual Campaign. Through Facebook and Twitter, MCC’s Commencement 2013 Social Media Campaign promoted and covered special events leading up to Graduation 2013, and live-tweeted Commencement Ceremonies on May 23. The MCC Foundation’s Annual Fund 2013 Campaign included web, print and social media materials that helped increase donations by six percent and raise donors by 3.5 percent.

 

MCC won Silver Medallion Awards in the categories of Communications Success Story (for the One World Series event “Tony Mendez of ‘Argo’ Fame”), Press or Promotional Kit (for its Merrimack Valley Partners for Progress messenger bag/promo kit), and One-Time Special Event (for the 25th Anniversary of the Lowell Campus).

 

Middlesex also earned Bronze Awards in the categories of Brochure/Flyer (for the MCC Foundation’s 2013 Annual Fund brochure), Magazine (Profiles Magazine), Nifty & Thrifty (series of four MCC Table Tents), and Government Relations Project (for the Trustees’ House Geothermal Project on the Bedford campus).

 

Additionally, the Office of Public Affairs received a gold award for the video program “MCC Connects."

 

Affiliated with the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has 1,550 members from more than 650 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries. NCMPR’s District 1 includes colleges from the northeastern U.S., eastern Canada and the United Kingdom. The annual Medallion Awards competition spotlights the best of work among District 1 members. Entries were submitted to the competition in 40 categories.
