Middlesex Community College will host the fall Opening Session of the Middlesex Institute for Lifelong Education for Seniors (MILES) at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Bedford Campus Center’s Café East, 591 Springs Road. This event is free and open to the public.
MCC’s MILES program offers active, older adults stimulating, interactive daytime seminars and workshops with no term papers, tests or grades. This informational and entertaining opening session provides community members an opportunity to learn more about MILES and the course being offered, and is a good opportunity to meet instructors and peers. Light refreshments will be served.

The MILES Opening Session will feature a keynote address by David Brody, author of “The Cabal of the Westford Knight.” Brody’s suspense novel is inspired by the legend of the Westford Knight, which recounts how Scottish explorers secretly visited Westford, Mass., in 1398 and carved a stone effigy to commemorate a fallen comrade. Brody will showcase artifacts and sites from the novel, as well as speak about the production of the upcoming movie inspired by his book, to be filmed locally.
