The trucks will be out in local neighborhoods Wednesday and Thursday.

The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will be spraying for mosquitoes in Bedford using truck mounted aerosol sprayers Wednesday and Thursday between dusk and 11:30 PM.
Wednesday’s spraying is scheduled for neighborhoods near Concord, Davis, Carlisle, North, and Pine Hill Roads, as well as Huckins Farm, Sweetwater Avenue and Wildwood Drive.
On Thursday, spraying is planned for areas near Fletcher, Dunster, Hartwel, Woodland and South roads, Wiggins Avenue and Pine Street.

The trucks will be spraying the pesticide, sumithrin, which is classified as slightly toxic by the EPA, but the control project said the chemical does not pose a significant risk to people or their pets. The toxicity is low and only a small amount is required to control mosquitoes.
Still, residents are advised to minimize exposure. If they see a spray truck approaching, they should go indoors and close the windows for a couple of minutes while the spray dissipates. Beekeepers do not need to take any special precautions since spraying begins after dusk.
