National Aviation Academy Competing in Aerospace Maintenance Competition

National Aviation Academy will be competing in the Aerospace Maintenance Competition in Miami April 14-16.

BEDFORD, Mass. - National Aviation Academy is sending two teams to Miami for the Aerospace Maintenance Competition (AMC) April 14 – 16 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The AMC is an opportunity for the students to demonstrate the skills they’ve learned in school and to test their abilities against those of their peers.

Aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, students and military personnel from five different countries will be competing. The teams are broken up into six different categories and will partake in 16 maintenance task events, lasting 15 minutes each. Judging will be based on how fast each event is completed. The scores from all of the events will be added together to make up the final overall competition score.

To qualify for the team, students were required to participate in the Aviation Games Competition at NAA’s January open house. This competition is similar to the AMC, but on a smaller scale and consisted of only five events. The top 10 scorers received additional training and are required to meet weekly until the AMC to practice. The final team will be selected at the end of the month and consists of five members plus one alternate.
