Police: Phantom Winds, An Overturned Port-a-Potty and Nervous Drivers

The following information was provided by the Bedford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Sept. 19

12:30 a.m.- Police received a report from Dabco Alarms that a commerical alarm at 160 Middlesex Turnpike had gone off. Officers responded to find the building largely under constructions, with tarps covering a large part of the exterior. Responding officers determined the alarm had been tripped by strong winds blowing the tarps.

8:52 a.m.- A patroling officer noticed a port-a-potty at John Glenn Middle School had been overturned. The Department of Public Works was notified.

6:57 p.m.- A resident of Alaska Avenue called to report a solicitor who came to her front door. She wanted to confirm the solicitor had registered with the town. An officer was dispatched but the solicitor was gone by the time he arrived. 

7:22 p.m.- A resident of Brooksbie Road reported the reverse alarm on a dump truck was sounding. Responding officers reported they spoke with the operator and that he confirmed he was done working for the night.

7:53 p.m.- Police received a call from the DoubleTree Bedford Glenn Hotel reporting a suspcious individual possibly breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers responded and confirmed the individual was the owner of the vehicle and had locked their keys in the car.

8:03 p.m.- A resident of Springs Road reported a motor vehicle driving slowly down the road and stopping at different points on the road. The caller confronted the driver, who he reported appeared to be nervous when conversing. The caller then observed the vehicle briefly meet another vehicle further down the road. Officers were dispatched, but the vehicle was gone upon their arrival.

Thursday, Sept. 20

9:29 a.m.- A resident of Washington Street came into the Bedford Police Department to report that her daughter had been receiving harrassing text messages and that she wanted access to view her daughter's text messages. Officers told the woman she must work with her cell phone provider to obtain that access.

12:08 p.m.- Police received a call reporting a suspicious vehicle that is regularly parked on Lido Lane at Ledgewood Drive. An officer was dispatched and found the green Camry where the caller had reported, although the driver was not present. The officer left a note on the windshield of the car asking for the owner to contact BPD concering where the car should be parked.

9:03 p.m.- BPD received a call from the Burlington Police Department requesting assistance locating a missing person out of Chelmsford. The individual's cell phone was accessed near Sun Microsystems in Burlington. Officers were dispatched to search the area. Burlington Police Department called to report that the individual had been found and was safe.

9:32 p.m.- Police received a call reporting a vehicle driving erratically near Dunster Road and Page Road. The caller reported the vehicle, a Lexus SUV, was driving fast and almost hit him while he was walking his dog. The responding officer searched the area but could not locate the vehicle.
