Police Prepare for Bedford Day Crowds

The Danny Oates Memorial Road Race and Bedford Day Parade lead to road closings and increased police presence.

If you are planning on driving through Bedford Center this Saturday, allot yourself extra travel time as the annual  will cause road closings and increased traffic in the area.

From 7:30 a.m-9:30 a.m., the Danny Oates Memorial Road Race will take place through the Davis Rd loop. While Davis Rd will remain open, the  will be assisting race participants with increased presense on McMahon Rd, Concord Rd and Davis Rd, and have warned commuters in the area to drive with caution.

Officer Marc Saucier said in a press release that due to the Bedford Day Parade, Loomis St between Webber Ave and Great Rd will be closed to traffic at 9:30 a.m. Great Rd will also be closed to traffic between Loomis St and Concord Rd starting at 10 a.m., causing delays and detours in the area.

All roads will open following the parade, which is expected to end by 11:30 a.m., according to the press release. 

The Bedford Day fair will take place on the town grounds between the Police Station and ; Mudge Way will be closed to traffic through the morning until late afternoon.
