Register for Fall Courses at Middlesex Community College

This Fall, MCC will run 95 percent of courses online, which includes two accelerated eight-week sessions

In these unprecedented times, students need a plan in place to help them reach their goals and continue their education. Over 20 years ago, Middlesex Community College was one of the first in the state to offer online learning. In the two decades since, the college has designed award-winning online curriculums that allow students to interact with content, professors and their fellow students in immersive and meaningful ways. This Fall, MCC will run about 95 percent of courses online, which includes two accelerated eight-week sessions.

Try Middlesex on for size and – college students can get a better understanding of their path and earn transferable credits; high school students can gain college experience and take advantage of effective online learning platforms; and adult learners can go back to school and upgrade or learn new skills – all while staying healthy and safe at home.

MCC’s accelerated eight-week sessions cover the same content, maintain the same academic standards, and contain the same number of instructional hours as courses scheduled in the traditional 15-week semester. Students can earn credits in a variety of subjects, including English, science, history, social science, mathematics and more.

By finishing general requirements with MCC’s Mini-mesters, students will not have to put their education on hold. Students can then go directly into the workforce or transfer to a four-year college or university as a second semester freshman or higher – depending on how many credits they earn at MCC – all while saving thousands in tuition costs.

Middlesex will feature four modalities of teaching in the Fall:

· Asynchronous Online – students work independently while meeting deadlines, engage with materials and other students on their own schedules, and have on-going access to online resources, pre-recorded lessons and tutorials.

· Synchronous Online – students attend classes at specific dates and times while professors and students engage in live classes using a camera and microphone via a remote setting.

· Hybrid (Blended) – students complete coursework online and come to campus only to finish practical experiences in a safe and controlled setting while following MCC’s strict safety protocols and social distancing.

· In-Person – students come to campus for the entirety of the course in a safe and controlled setting while following MCC’s strict safety protocols and social distancing.

MCC understands that students need to feel financially stable and supported. In addition to freezing tuition for the 2020-2021 academic year, the college offers personalized financial aid counseling, payment plans and a supportive community to help keep students on track.

Middlesex is also offering incentives to help students continue their education. One incentive offers 50 percent off a first class to students who were laid-off due to COVID-19. The college is also offering 50 percent off one course to new students in celebration of the college’s 50th anniversary. Qualifying students must register by September 10.
