Register Now for MCC’s Technical Writing Certificate Program

Enrollment is now open for Middlesex Community College’s Technical Writing Certificate Program. This 120-hour, post-graduate noncredit certificate program provides students with the tools and skills necessary to write technical documents and effectively communicate about technical information. Spring-semester courses begin Monday, Jan. 27.

 

This program is a career enhancement opportunity for individuals with well-developed writing skills, a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of work experience.

Students will learn how to conduct audience and task analysis, work with subject matter experts, understand product documents and the product-development cycle, write clear procedures, review and revise technical information, manage projects, and make content useable. Mark-up languages, such as HTML and XML, as well as tools for authoring information for electronic and print distribution will also be covered. Through lecture, online learning and projects, students will create a portfolio featuring samples of their work.

Solid MS Windows and MS Word skills, access to an MS Windows Operating System, and an aptitude for learning new technology are required. Classes are held from 5:45 to 9:45 p.m., Mondays on the Bedford campus, 591 Springs Road. The cost of MCC’s Technical Writing Certificate Program is $1,499 plus textbook fees. Courses are not eligible for waivers or vouchers.
