Registration for Middlesex CC’s College for Kids is Now Open

Registration for Middlesex Community College’s College for Kids is now open. These interactive and engaging summer programs provide children and teens ages 8 to 17 with unique opportunities to explore careers, learn new skills, meet new friends and boost self-confidence.

“MCC’s College for Kids is the perfect way for your kids to have fun this summer while learning something new,” said Audrey Nahabedian, MCC’s Dean of Workforce Development. “Our selection of classes are often not taught in traditional school, but help kids strengthen valuable long-term skills and have early exposure to possible career paths or areas of interest. Classes also keep a semblance of normalcy and routine without having to commit for the whole summer.”

Public school teachers and expert professionals teach courses on topics such as STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), cooking, arts and crafts, photography, fashion design, online gaming, graphic and web design, creative writing and filmmaking.

Programs are offered in Bedford and Lowell, featuring six weeks of full- and half-day programs from July 10 through August 17, Monday through Thursday. Full-day programs run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and half-day programs run 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students who take two half-day programs to make a full day can stay on campus for lunch in between the two sessions.

A theatre program at MCC’s Academic Arts Center in Lowell will put on a production of “The Addams Family.” Taught by MCC’s Performing Arts Chair Karen Oster, the theatre program will run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 24 to August 12.

“From decorating cakes and cupcakes to introducing the art of coding to everything in between, this summer’s line-up of College for Kids classes is sure to be exciting,” Nahabedian said. “We look forward to welcoming you this year!”
