Sabourin Stadium Turfing to Appear on Special Town Meeting Warrant
The town will vote during the Nov. 13 Special Town Meeting whether to appropriate funding for a new turf field at Bedford High School.

The Board of Selectmen reviewed a draft of the warrant for the Nov. 13 special Town Meeting last Monday, Oct. 1, including an article concerning the turfing of the field at Sabourin Stadium.
"The selectmen have included an article on the turfing of the football field at Bedford High School on the warrant for the special Town Meeting," Town Manager Richard Reed said.

The total cost of the Sabourin field turfing project is estimated at $1.1 million, $605,000 of which would be available in funding through the Community Preservation Act.
According to the warrant article, the Bedford Community Preservation Committee has recommended a transfer of $150,000 from recreation reserves and a bonding of $455,000 to make up the CPA funding for the Sabourin field turfing project.

The remaining balance for the cost of the project of $495,000 is not eligible for CPA funding, and would be funded with other town funds, according to the Warrant article.
Reed said the selectmen must come to a decision as to whether to amend the article regarding the Sabourin field turfing project by their next meeting, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 15. That is the deadline for changes to warrant articles before the special Town Meeting.
Also included on the draft of the warrant for the special Town Meeting is an article concerning whether to adjust and add to the fiscal 2013 Community Preservation Budget which was adopted at the 2012 annual Town Meeting.
Included in this article is a new appropriation of $150,000 in CPA funding for design plans for new athletic fields at 9 Mudge Way and the land the town of Bedford purchased from the Archdiocese of Boston at 7 Lil'jegren Way.
The selectmen have until their next meeting, Monday Oct. 15, to change the articles on the draft of the warrant before the Nov. 13 special Town Meeting, including the appropriation of $150,000 in CPA funding for athletic field designs for 9 Mudge Way and 7 Lil'jegren Way.
