Shoplifting Suspect Arrested After Climbing Into Supermarket's Ceiling
Laura Baum, 26, of Bedford, was reportedly in the ceiling for almost two hours before being apprehended.

A Bedford woman, who reportedly was caught trying to shoplift from a Market Basket in Chelsea, hid in the supermarket’s ceiling for more than two hours before being taken into custody, reported The Boston Globe.
Laura Baum, 26, was arrested and charged with shoplifting, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest on Tuesday. She pleaded not guilty in Chelsea District Court on Wednesday, according to The Globe.
Baum reportedly tried to leave the store with $113.69 worth of items. When confronted by store employees, she allegedly pulled out a knife and attempted to stab a cashier. She then locked herself in a supply closet and climbed into the ceiling, reported The Globe.

Chelsea Police apprehended the Bedford resident more than two hours later when she became trapped between two walls in the back of the store. She was taken into custody and transported to Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett with hand lacerations.
