Suspicious Device Found Along Minuteman Bikeway
A Bedford Public Works worker found a beer bottle partially filled with a flammable liquid and a cloth stopper sticking out.
BEDFORD, MA — The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad and Bedford Police Department responded to an area on the Minuteman Bikeway in Bedford Wednesday morning after a public works worker found a suspicious device in a culvert along the bikeway.
Police announced Wednesday that the worker had been cleaning the culverts located at a section of the Elm Brook Conservation along the bikeway when he noticed a beer bottle with a cloth stopper sticking out of the top. Police say the device was confirmed to be partially filled with a flammable liquid.
The bomb squad responded and rendered the device safe. The bottle was located behind the parking lots at 15 DeAngelo Drive and 140 South Road.

The bike bath stretches 11 miles through the communities of Bedford, Lexington, Arlington and Cambridge. It's collectively managed and maintained by the four communities.
Bedford Police say that there is no danger to the community, but the matter remains under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident, or the device left in the area, is asked to call the Bedford Police Department at 781-275-1212.
