There Is Still Time to Register for MCC’s Spring 2022 Semester

MCC helps students of all ages, backgrounds and goals by offering programming that set them up for success and meets them where they are

“At Middlesex Community College, we celebrate our students’ successes, both in the short- and long-term,” said Phil Sisson, MCC’s President. “Understanding the commitment and sacrifices our students make to get their education, MCC meets them where they are with accessible programs, opportunities and guidance. We strive to make it easier for students to reach their goals and get on their paths to success.”

Middlesex helps students of all ages, backgrounds and goals by offering programming that set them up for success. Flexible and affordable options – such as on-campus, online and hybrid course formats and student support services – allow students to fit education into their schedules, while balancing their family, job and other personal responsibilities.

One of the ways MCC makes learning flexible is with eight-week Mini-mester sessions. The accelerated sessions cover the same content, maintain the same academic standards, and offer the same number of instructional hours as courses scheduled in the traditional 15-week semester.

Compared to the Spring 2021 semester, MCC’s Spring 2022 Mini-mester I has increased in enrollment by 48 percent, while Mini-mester II has already increased in enrollment by 20 percent – ahead of its Monday, March 28 start date.

Middlesex students are choosing Mini-mesters because they allow for more customized learning, according to Arlene Rodríguez, MCC’s Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. They also allow students to get on track with their educational goals ahead of their Summer and Fall 2022 plans

“Mini-mesters are a popular and convenient option for so many of our students,” Rodríguez said “The accelerated courses allow students to start their education when they want, earn credits faster, fully commit to a subject in just a limited period of time, and take more classes over the course of a complete semester.”

Whether a student has graduated from high school and is looking to jumpstart their college career or is an adult returning to school after a break, Middlesex offers more than 80 degree and certificate options and has designed seven pathways to success to help students reach their goals.

MCC’s program pathways make it easier for students to navigate the college experience, helping them to understand what they have to do in order to complete their degree or certificate program.

Pathways keep students on track with their requirements and academic plans and allow them to explore majors of interest and possible careers, complete general requirements, and move forward onto their next steps, including transferring to their four-year institution.

Certificate options provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to enhance their academic achievements, directly enter the workforce, or start or advance their careers. MCC students can also complete certificates, professional development or personal enrichment classes as part of MCC’s Corporate and Community Education and Training division.

Middlesex also offers educational opportunities to prepare students to learn in a college environment. This includes teaching English language skills to non-native English speakers as part of the English Learner Institute and Intensive English Institute. In the Adult Learning Center, the college provides free training to help students improve their basic academic skills and prepare for HiSET or GED testing, attending college, job training or employment.

All Middlesex students have access to the college’s on-campus, online and hybrid student support services and resources, including advising, tutoring and the Libraries. Please note that Middlesex requires all students to be vaccinated in order to come to campus, as of January 2022. Students who are unvaccinated can still choose to take online classes and access online resources and student support services.
