• Resident Vies For Pokémon World Title (belmontvoice.org) — A nine-year-old Belmont resident, Benny Hwang, is headed to San Francisco this week to compete in the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championship, alongside his dad. New to Belmont and starting fourth grade at Chenery Upper Elementary, Benny has already played in about 16 tournaments and ranks among the top Junior players in the U.S. and worldwide.
   

• Middlesex Sheriff's Office Celebrates Successful 25th Season of its Youth Public Safety Academy (hollistonreporter.com) — Belmont kids were among more than 500 cadets who joined the Middlesex Sheriff's Youth Public Safety Academy this summer, learning about fire safety, first aid, cyber safety, and more. Over five weeks in Chelmsford, participants from 40 communities met police, firefighters, EMTs, and other partners while building leadership skills and friendships in the academy's 25th anniversary season.
