
Twenty
years of service to communities in Essex County. A milestone! North Shore
Community Mediation Center (NSCMC) celebrated this landmark by recognizing
those who assumed the demanding leadership roles throughout those exciting years.
Thursday,
September 19 in the Grand Salon at the Larcom Theater in Beverly, North Shore
Community Mediation Center held their Annual Meeting, a kick-off to a 20th
year celebration. The current Board of Directors reviewed the accomplishments
of the past year, with particular focus on the honor of being a recipient of a
Cummings Foundation $100,000 for 100 grant, while also stressing the future
financial needs of the Center.

The
Annual Meeting took a more celebratory tone when the fifty active volunteers present
recognized the past Board Presidents who lead the Center through the years of
growth and years of challenges. Four of the past eight presidents were present
to accept certificates and recognition for their dedication to making our
communities more peaceful.

North
Shore Community Mediation Center (NSCMC) is a non-profit corporation with an
office in Beverly. The organization and its 50 affiliated volunteer mediators
are committed to providing mediation, training, and related services to
residents, municipalities, courts, schools, businesses and families throughout
Essex County. Operating since 1994, NSCMC is approved by the MA Trial Court to
accept referrals from the Salem, Peabody, and Gloucester District Courts, the
Essex County Juvenile Court and the Essex County Probate & Family Court. In
addition to court referrals of small claims, minor criminal, summary process,
divorce, parent/child and minor delinquency and harassment cases, mediation
services offered to the public include: family mediation cases (elder,
parent/child, divorce), consumer mediation, and workplace mediation as well as
training in basic mediation and conflict resolution skills. The Center is a
resource outside of the court for all residents who are experiencing conflict
in their families, schools, or workplaces. The NSCMC Youth Program provides
student mediation training and program development supporting peer mediation
