Alert Beverly Officer Helps Knock Down Vine Street Fire
The officer smelled smoke and heard a residential fire alarm in the Beverly Farms area.

BEVERLY, MA — An alert Beverly police officer helped discover and knock down a house fire in the Beverly Farms part of the city on Tuesday night.
Beverly fire said that while crews were responding to an alarm at Endicott College, a police officer patrolling the downtown section of Beverly Farms heard a residential alarm and smelled smoke.
The on-duty officer and a second off-duty officer discovered a fire at a house on Vine Street and were able to get into the home where they used a fire extinguisher to knock down the fire. The crew that had been at Endicott arrived to ensure that the fire had been put out and there was no extension.

"No one was home at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation," the Beverly Fire Department said. "Great job by our partners in blue. Their quick work minimized the damage to the home."
