Alma Fusion Restaurant Seeks Community Investment
Beverly restaurant relying on community involvement to revamp menu and grow the business.

Mainvest has announced a partnership with Beverly-based Alma Fusion Restaurant. Alma, founded by Gina Firicano and Wagner Garcia, offers a uniquely wide array of dishes and cocktails. Focusing on the fusion of Spanish cuisine with other globally inspired flavors and techniques, Alma has become a local favorite. Firicano and Garcia care deeply about the community they’ve created, which is why they’ve decided to begin a Mainvest community investment campaign, rather than rely solely on traditional financing. Garcia states:
“We are very excited for you to be a part of Alma Fusion's next chapter. The community of Beverly is important to us and we plan to really showcase our true potential by expanding our menu and bringing in more environmentally friendly product. We'll improve all aspects of the business. With your help, we can really get this business to take off. Being a new business, access to capital has been difficult and has kept us from using our full potential.”
Mainvest, a community investment platform, allows both accredited and non-accredited investors to invest in small, Main Street style businesses for as little as $100. Nick Mathews, Mainvest CEO, is excited to be working with a unique restaurant so close to Mainvest’s headquarters in downtown Salem. “Alma has created a community around great food, and we’re excited to help them rely on that community for their next round of financing.” Mainvest’s model aligns incentives between community investors and small businesses. Because investors are often hyper-local, they personally care about the businesses in which they invest. Furthermore, because financial returns are tied to the success of the business, investors are incentivised to become regular patrons and champions of the business. Small business owners benefit not just from the flexible financing that Mainvest provides, but benefit from community involvement and customer loyalty. As chain restaurants and large developers are increasingly out-competing mom-and-pop shops, Mainvest aims to empower communities and local businesses like Alma Fusion Restaurant.
