Detroit Tigers Sign Former North Shore College Baseball Standout

The two-time All-American becomes the fourth placer in Endicott College history to sign a Major League deal.

BEVERLY, MA — A former North Shore college baseball standout has become the fourth player in Endicott College program history to sign a professional contract with a Major League Baseball franchise.

The Detroit Tigers announced the signing of two-time All-American Caleb Shour, who led Endicott to the Division III College World Series in 2023, before transferring to the University of Connecticut.

Shour ranks second in Endicott history in batting average at .371, third in slugging percentage at .620, fourth in home runs at 24, fourth in stolen bases at 67 and fourth in on-base percentage at .458.

He joins former teammate Jordan Gottesman, Matt Bishop and Tad Gold as former Gulls to join MLB organizations.

"I couldn't be more excited for Caleb or more proud of him for earning this incredible opportunity with the Tigers organization," Endicott baseball coach Bryan Haley told the school website. "He is a tireless worker and a true student of the game.

"His energy, passion for personal development, and competitive spirit will serve him well as he enters the professional ranks. I'm excited to follow his career in professional baseball, and the entire Endicott Baseball Family is behind Caleb on his new journey."

While at UConn, Shpur won the Rawlings Division I Gold Glove in center field after posting a national best in defensive runs saved (19.66). Over his two years with the Huskies, he hit .319/.403/.463 with 11 homers and 66 RBI.

In 2025, he hit .363/.430/.529 in 58 games played. He ranked seventh in Division I in stolen bases at 43, whacked eight homers, and drove in 44 runs while scoring 70 runs.
