1. Detroit Tigers Sign Former North Shore College Baseball Standout (patch.com) — Baseball fans in Beverly have a new local success story as former Endicott College star Caleb Shour signs a professional contract with the Detroit Tigers, becoming just the fourth player in the Gulls’ history to reach an MLB organization. The two-time All-American built his resume with standout offensive numbers at Endicott and UConn, earning national defensive honors and praise from his former Beverly-based coach.
2. Suspect in Beverly home invasion held without bail (wcvb.com) — A suspect accused in a violent home invasion at a $20 million Beverly mansion is being held without bail following a dangerousness hearing. Prosecutors say the intruder stole a Porsche and valuables and assaulted a housekeeper, while the defense disputes he is violent; a probable cause hearing is set for May 21.
3. Beverly debates use of AI-powered Flock cameras (nbcboston.com) — Beverly officials and residents are clashing over whether to keep using AI-powered Flock license plate cameras that police say help solve crimes but critics fear threaten privacy. At a City Hall meeting, opponents questioned potential tracking and data sharing, while the police chief and mayor defended the limited, plate-only system and pledged to address community concerns with the vendor.
4. Tanners double up Beverly, stay hot at home (cnhi.com) — Beverly High’s baseball team fell 6–3 on the road at Peabody, stranding 8 runners and going hitless with men on base. Despite solid pitching and some strong individual performances, Beverly couldn’t cash in on Peabody’s errors and late chances, extending a three-game skid in early-season Northeastern Conference play.
