The HAWC Walk & 5K run is a fundraiser for the organization's support of survivors, families, advocates and community leaders.

Gould has more than 27 years of nonprofit leadership experience in the Chamber of Commerce industry. She joined the Greater Beverly Chamber in 2018 and has worked to strengthen community partnerships and support local businesses across the region.

Gould previously served as executive director of the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce and the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce.

"It's easy to put your head in the sand, but as business owners, your employees are your lifeline to productivity and business success," Gould said. "Domestic violence takes on many forms, and you never know what someone is going through. You may notice a change in actions, personality, and productivity.

"Recognizing that domestic violence is a workplace issue allows the survivor to have a safe space and the business to establish policies and employee training."

HAWC Executive Director Sara Stanley said Gould's community role made her a strong fit for the event.

"Leslie is a connector, an advocate, and a leader who understands the power of community," Stanley said. "Her dedication to bringing people together to enhance business success aligns deeply with HAWC’s work to build safer, more supportive communities for everyone.

"We are honored to have her serve as this year's Grand Marshal."

Gould will help lead the walk and 5K and serve as an ambassador for the event.

Proceeds from the event will benefit its emergency shelter, advocacy services, prevention education, housing and community outreach efforts.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend, walk or run in support of survivors and HAWC’s programs. Registration and sponsor information are available here.
