This year's program is themed: "Plant a Seed, Read."

The kickoff will include music by DJ Kim Collins, lawn games, and a StoryWalk.

The library is also inviting attendees to learn how to read to win tickets to the Topsfield Fair. The event is open to all ages.

The summer reading kickoff is designed as a celebration of the start of summer reading.

A second summer-themed event is planned for adults and is set for June 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Coastal Mass Brewing. That program is a one-time board game night for adults tied to the summer reading theme.

No previous gaming experience is required. Games will be taught at the table. The event is for adults 21 and older, and space is limited. Registration is required.
