BEVERLY, MA — The Beverly Public Library will reduce hours and services at its branches starting on July 1 amid a city budget crunch.
At the main library, the Children's Room will close at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, while the rest of the building will remain open until 9 p.m.
The Farms branch will also move to a new weekly schedule starting July 1. Under the posted hours, the branch will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The branch will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday under the summer schedule.
Saturday hours will return from October through May, when the Farms branch will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill included library hours, services and staff reductions among his cuts to trim an additional $1.4 million in spending following the proposal of a modified trash fee increase from $100 to $300 for most residents.
