BEVERLY, MA — Endicott College has been selected by National Collegiate Rugby to host a "Friday Night Rugby" match against Smith College on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
The Beverly campus event will feature the Gulls and the Bears in women's rugby competition during Endicott's Homecoming and Reunion Weekend.
The match will be broadcast for free on NCR.tv, which National Collegiate Rugby identified as its official digital streaming platform.
"Friday Night Rugby" is designed to showcase leading college rugby programs and has featured schools including Louisville, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Notre Dame and UCLA.
"Endicott women's rugby is incredibly excited to host Friday Night Rugby for the first time during Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. To do so against a quality opponent like Smith College makes the opportunity even more special," Endicott women's rugby head coach Carly Baker said.
Baker said the showcase is also an opportunity to promote the college and its rugby culture as the campus brings back alumni and visitors for the weekend.
"Friday Night Rugby highlights some of the best competition in collegiate rugby, and we are proud to showcase not only our team, but also Endicott's beautiful campus, supportive community, and the culture we have built within our program," she said. "It is a great opportunity for fans, alumni, and prospective students to experience what it means to be a Gull on a nationally streamed platform."
