WOBURN, MA — Endicott College President Bryan Cain has been named a trustee at the North Shore-based Cummings Foundation.
Cain was appointed in March 2026 to lead Endicott after serving as acting and interim president for 14 months. During that period, he is credited with guiding campus improvements and branding initiatives that helped drive undergraduate and graduate applications to record levels and led to the college's first $75 million fundraising campaign.
Since joining Endicott in 2017 as vice president of communications and marketing, Cain has held several leadership roles at the college. Most recently, as executive vice president, he served as a close adviser to the president while overseeing departments and institutional initiatives.
"Bryan's expertise in strategic resource allocation, advancement, and governance will make him an asset to the Foundation's advisory team," said Cummings Foundation executive director Joyce Vyriotes.
Cain earned a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from Endicott, according to the announcement. The college said he is a first-generation college graduate and serves on the boards of LGBTQ Leaders in Higher Education and the New England Council.
He is also a member of the Society of Presidential Historians in Academia.
"Cummings Foundation has made a meaningful difference in the lives of people across our community," said Cain. "I'm excited to be part of an organization that is committed to making a lasting impact."
The appointment also builds on an existing relationship between Endicott and the foundation. Endicott College and Cummings Foundation have maintained a formal partnership since 2021, when the foundation committed $20 million to expand and enhance the college's Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences. That commitment was the largest in Endicott's history.
Additional trustees include Mike Kennealy, former Massachusetts secretary of housing and economic development; Jim Yong Kim, former president of Dartmouth College and the World Bank; and Philip Rotner, chief investment officer at Boston Children's Hospital.
