Attention Beverly Artists, Performers, Teachers!

Beverly Cultural Council

Beverly Cultural
Council Grant Application will be available for online submission for
the first time this fall.

The Beverly Cultural
Council has set an October 17
deadline for organizations, schools and individuals to apply for
grants that support cultural activities in the community. For the
first time, submissions of applications may be made online this year.
The Council will hold an open informational meeting on Thursday,
September 29 at 7:15 pm at the Beverly Public Library, Barnet Room,
to answer any questions about the application and award process.

According to Council
spokesperson, Co-chair, Savery Kelley,
these grants can support a variety of artistic projects and
activities in Beverly -- including exhibits, festivals, field trips,
short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops
and lectures.

The Beverly Cultural
Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving
all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the
largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting
thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and
humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual
appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency,
which then allocates funds to each community.

Last year, the Beverly
Cultural Council
distributed about $13,000 in
grants. A few of the previously funded projects include: First Night
celebration, Homecoming Concerts, a poetry program at Cove School,
Shakespeare in the park at the Hale House, visiting
musicians at the Senior Center, and many art exhibits and murals
around the city.
