Bass River Rezoning Meeting Coming Up

The planning staff will discuss the plan and ask for input from the public.

BEVERLY, MA - The City of Beverly Planning Department will host a public meeting regarding plans to rezone a portion of the area between River Street and the Bass River.

During the meeting city planning staff will will review the Bass River Study and talk about how it will influence a inform the drafting of a new zoning district for the area. The public is encouraged to provide input.

According to a news release the plan “provides a vision for future development in the area as transit oriented incorporating a mix of land uses ultimately creating new opportunities for economic activity, waterfront access, and housing. One of the key recommendations for achieving that vision is to implement new zoning regulations for the area.”

The idea to rezone the area came from a Bass River Area Study conducted in 2013 by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in partnership with the Beverly Planning Department.

The meeting will take place Thursday, January 28th starting at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Beverly City Hall, 191 Cabot Street.
