Beverly 2023 Preliminary Election Guide: Candidates, Where To Vote

Beverly residents will go to the polls on Tuesday to narrow the field of mayoral candidates to two for the Nov. 7 general election.

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly voters will head to the polls on Tuesday to narrow the field of mayoral candidates from three to two for the Nov. 7 general election ballot.

Mayor is the only contested race requiring a preliminary vote in the city this election cycle.

Incumbent Mike Cahill is running for re-election with challenges from Phil Venezia and James Zarella.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The following are the polling locations in the city:

Ward 1, Precincts 1 & 2: Ayers-Ryal Side Elementary School, 40 Woodland Avenue
Ward 2, Precincts 1 & 2: Beverly Public Library, Winter Street Entrance
Ward 3, Precincts 1 & 2: McKeown School, 70 Balch Street
Ward 4, Precincts 1 & 2: Cove Elementary School, 20 Eisenhower Avenue
Ward 5, Precincts 1 & 2: North Beverly Elementary School, 48 Putnam Street
Ward 6, Precincts 1 & 2: Centerville Elementary School, 17 Hull Street

Beverly held in-person early voting at Beverly City Hall that concluded on Friday.

Beverly City Clerk Lisa Kent said 551 residents cast a ballot via the six days of in-person early voting in the preliminary election.

Those who requested vote-by-mail ballots must return them to the City Clerk's Office by 8 p.m. on Tuesday night. Ballots cannot be returned to polling locations.

Those voting via vote-by-mail are reminded to sign the tan envelope before returning the ballot. Once the ballot is sealed inside the signed, tan envelope it can be returned to the City Clerk's Office in person or to the drop box at City Hall.

Voters can check their registration status on the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website.
