Beverly Begins Search For Next School Superintedent

The school committee has scheduled focus groups for next week as a first step in the process.

BEVERLY, MA -- The Beverly school committee will conduct a full, open search for its next superintendent. Dr. Steven A. Hiersche is planning to retire at the end of the current school year, creating an opening. The Edward J. Collins, Jr. Center for Public Management at the University of Massachusetts at Boston will assist in the search.

The Collins Center will conduct focus groups with teachers and staff next week to identify desired characteristics in the next superintendent. Parents and community members are welcome to attend those sessions, which are scheduled for Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Beverly Middle School auditorium and
