Beverly Bootstraps Voted Nonprofit of the Year

Nonprofit of the Year

The Essex County Community Foundation has named Beverly Bootstraps the 2015 Nonprofit of the Year. This award honors a nonprofit in Essex County which has achieved a standard of excellence in service to the community. Over 2000 nominations were received for various nonprofits that voters believed make the most difference in the community.

At ECCF’s Celebration of Giving Breakfast on Thursday, May 7, Sue Gabriel, Beverly Bootstraps’ Executive Director, was presented the award by Jay Caporales, ECCF’s Executive Vice President and Director of Philanthropy. Beverly Bootstraps is one of the leading social service agencies on the North Shore, providing critical resources to families and individuals so they may achieve self-sufficiency. Funded by the community, Beverly Bootstraps offers access to food, housing stability, adult and youth education programs, counseling and advocacy. In FY2014, the organization served nearly 4,000 individuals in need (over 2,000 households) in Beverly and Manchester-by-the-Sea. The organization also has a Thrift Shop where the community can shop for quality goods at low prices.

In accepting the award, Gabriel noted that “It takes so many people in the community to meet Beverly Bootstraps’ mission: staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, funders and collaborating agencies.” She closed by thanking people for giving to organizations in their local communities.
