Beverly Cancer Patient Awarded $1K Grant From Joe Andruzzi Foundation

The food security grant donation occurred at a ceremony at Boston Medical Center's Moakley Green.

BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly resident who is undergoing treatment for lymphoma was the recipient of a $1,000 food security grant this week courtesy of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation and Food Security Program presenting sponsor Amplix.

Angel Wagner, a native of the Dominican Republic, received the grant on Tuesday at a ceremony at the Boston Medical Center's Moakley Green.

The donation was the latest in $1 million in food security grants presented from the Andruzzi Foundation. Joe Andruzzi is a former New England Patriots Super Bowl champion lineman and cancer survivor.

"We are grateful to all of our supporters, from Food Security Program presenting sponsor Amplix, to the amazing social workers and patient navigators who identify patients for our assistance programs, and of course to the medical professionals who provide much-needed treatment," said Andruzzi, co-founder, and Chief Engagement Officer of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. "You have all made it possible for us to reach this milestone of providing one million dollars in food security grants to cancer patients all over New England.

"We are incredibly proud, but know that cancer-related financial toxicity is an issue that will continue to impact families across the region"

Amplix has been the presenting sponsor of the JAF Food Security Program since 2021 and JAF has partnered with Boston Medical Center since 2013 to award more than $175,000 in grant assistance to patients of the Center.

The Joe Andruzzi Foundation distributes assistance to help patients and their families with financial assistance to pay for housing, transportation, utilities, food, insurance and other expenses.
