Beverly Downed Power Lines, Utility Poles Close Cabot Street For Hours

UPDATE: Beverly police said the main road would be "impassable" for much of Friday afternoon after a truck pulled down the lines.

BEVERLY, MA — A stretch of Cabot Street on Beverly was expected to be closed for "several hours" on Friday afternoon because of downed utility poles and power lines.

Beverly police advised drivers to avoid the area of 515 Cabot Street.

Police said a truck crashed into a pole, pulling down two poles and the lines near the intersection with Russell Street.

"It will be impassable for several hours while National Grid Electric fixes the issue," police said in a social media post at about noon.
