Beverly Downtown Intersection Work Set For Sunday

The overnight road work at the Cabot/Rantoul intersection near the Essex Bridge will require temporary detours and road closures.

BEVERLY, MA — Those buzzing around Beverly Sunday night and early Monday morning will have to keep an eye out for downtown road closures and detours at the intersection of Cabot Street and Rantoul Street near the Essex Bridge.

The state Department of Transportation said overnight milling work will begin in the area on Sunday at 8 p.m. and continue through Monday at 5 a.m.

Temporary road closures and detours will be necessary.

The work is part of the $6.3 million Cabot Street Intersection Project.

Northbound traffic traveling from the Essex Bridge will not be allowed to turn onto Water Street or Cabot Street. Traffic will be detoured up Rantoul Street onto Edwards Street to get back onto Cabot Street.

Northbound traffic traveling from the Essex Bridge will be reduced to one lane.

Goat Hill Lane will also be temporarily closed through the night with a detour onto Summit Avenue/Cox Court.

The state DOT said drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
