Beverly Educational Foundation Awarded $300K Cummings Foundation Grant

The foundation said it will put the funds toward teacher professional development and supporting equity in student services.

BEVERLY, MA — The Beverly Education Foundation will put a $300,000 grant over 10 years from the Cummings Foundation toward professional development for teachers and supporting equity in student services.

The Beverly Education Foundation was one of 150 local nonprofits chosen out of 630 applicants to share in $30 million through the 2023 Cummings Foundation's major annual grants program.

The Beverly Education Foundation was founded 25 years ago as an independent nonprofit to highlight a private commitment to innovation in public education.

"The Cummings Foundation Grant monies will bolster teacher support, build greater connections between teacher, student, and parents, and provide innovative programs to prepare Beverly students for their futures," Beverly Education Foundation Vice President Anna Green said.

The Foundation said the funding will be used for professional development to promote social and emotional awareness, wisdom, growth, and leadership for teachers. A focus will also be on increasing educational and societal engagement of parents and families, promoting student health and wellness.

The Foundation will continue to support students who fall into the digital divide for the 1 to 1 Learning Initiative and increase the use of technology to support the robotics and engineering curriculum and provide mentoring and career pathways for our students.

"We are extremely thankful to the Cummings Foundation for their support of our mission," Beverly Education Foundation President Doug Walker said. "Their funding means greater learning opportunities for both students and teachers."
