Beverly Fire To Use $21K State Grant On Protective Gear, Dryer

The Beverly Fire Department received the funding from the FY22 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.

BEVERLY, MA — The Beverly Fire Department will use a nearly @21,000 state grant on new protective gear and a new gear dryer for city firefighters.

The FY22 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program of $20,939.99 was [art pf $5 million awarded to 206 cities and towns statewide. The program is designed to allow fire de[artments to purchase safety gear without an additional burden on taxpayers.

"The Beverly Fire Department is grateful for this grant award that will help us modernize our equipment and purchase the critical protective gear we need to keep our firefighters safe," Beverly Fire Chief Peter O'Connor said. "The long-term health benefits from this grant award are immeasurable."
