BEVERLY, MA — Organizers of the Goldberg Properties Gran Prix of Beverly said the race will not be held this year as Cabot Street is scheduled for resurfacing this summer. The race, which is billed as the only professional sporting event on the North Shore, will return in 2020, organizer said in a news release this week. The release said organizers plan to reevaluate the course and finalize a sponsorship partnership with the Cabot, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a year full of events in 2020.

The race on closed off city streets marked its 10th year last summer. The race was nearly canceled in 2017 for a lack of sponsors, but a push resulted in a flood of new backers, including Goldberg Properties, which signed on as the race's title sponsor.
