Beverly, Hamilton Men Identified As Fatal Boat Crash Victims: Essex DA
The two men were both presumed killed when their boat crashed off the coast of Manchester-by-the-Sea's Singing Beach on Saturday.
BEVERLY, MA — A 67-year-old man from Beverly and a 37-year-old man from Hamilton were identified as two victims, dead or missing, following the crash of a boat off Manchester-by-the-Sea's Singing Beach on Saturday.
The Essex County District Attorney's Office said Carl Potter, of Beverly, was found dead at the scene of the incident, while James Wolcott, 37, of Hamilton, is still missing after the search for his body was suspended on Sunday.
The third man on the boat, a 65-year-old man, remains hospitalized. The Essex DA's Office said it was not releasing his name as of Monday for what it said were privacy reasons.

The three men, as well as a dog that was recovered alive, were aboard a vessel that was reported in distress shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Police, fire and dive teams from several area departments, including the U.S. Coast Guard, responded to the scene and contributed to the search and recovery operations throughout the day Saturday night into Sunday.

"The decision to suspend a search is never made lightly," USCG Capt. Jamie Frederick said in a news release. "Our deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy. We are grateful to our local, state, and federal partners who supported the search efforts."
